Four little words just to get me along

Today I made a trip to Penistone with Iris and Melissa. And yes, I choose the place cause it had a funny name not knowing anything about the place in advance :D

The leaving to Penistone was quite epic: my lecture was terminated early due to a fire drill in Arts Tower and Iris had totally forgot the whole thing and was happily spending her day off until she read my text. Me and Melissa had to run the city through to get to the train station on time where Iris already waited for us after taking the taxi to get there. In the end we were on the platform on time and even had to wait for the train for a full minute before it arrived.

Finally in the train!

The arrival to Penistone was almost as epic. For the first 15 minutes we weren't sure if there was any other people in the village or if there was only sheep and goats. After that we saw some people walking around.

Weird goat

A local pub. And two grannys! The first people we saw there!

We couldn't find any close up maps of the village (or not at least until we were leaving the place..) so we just started to walk. Soon we found very nice old church (over 500 years old it said) and a garden/old graveyard. And on the other side of the church was the centre of the village.

We bought some postcards and asked the shop lady for some directions to be able to see the view in one of the postcards. She gave the directions and of we went. After one more direction query we found the place which was lovely park in middle of fields. On one side the park ended to a massive aqueduct which nowadays serves as a railway.

Train!

After lunch break we made our way back to the village and had afternoon tea (and cake!) in small upstair cafe. After some English Breakfest and Lemon Drizzle Cake (girls took caramelized apple cake) we made our ways back to the train station to catch the train home. Despite it's name, Penistone turned out to be lovely english countryside village just like the one in Heartbeat. And the weather was amazingly sunny the whole day!
